Hayley Hurd
Welcome to music at South McKeel! This is my second year teaching music at SMA. Working with students has always been a passion of mine. It's so fun to see students discover their talents through singing and/or instruments. We believe music should be a joyful experience, therefore we strive to maintain a happy atmosphere. Students get to test out a lot of different instruments such as xylophones, drums, handbells, boomwhackers, glockenspiels, recorders, ukuleles, and more!
Along with teaching general music to K-5, we also offer SMA 4th/5th chorus, SMA 6th/7th chorus, The Melody Boyz (middle school chorus), SMA 5th/6th/7th band, 6th grade music elective, and 7th grade guitar.
Our students can also audition and participate in All County Chorus, All County Orff, All State Chorus, and All State Orff.
I am a graduate of Palm Beach Atlantic University. I've played piano for 35 years and have taught lessons for 16 years. I was a 5/6 grade classroom teacher for 3 years, a cheer coach for 12 years, and a youth director for 2 years. I am thrilled to be a part of your students' educational journey.
