Science Team

Welcome to Seventh Grade!! This will be my eleventh year teaching for TSMA and I previously taught 5th and 6th grade science at South McKeel Academy and before that I taught 4th grade in Polk County for 8 years.  In total, I have been teaching 19 years and am looking forward to this year!

Along with teaching 7th grade science, I am the head coach for the girls golf team.  My family is also part of the McKeel family, as my wife, Chantel is the Art teacher at McKeel Academy Central and my daughter, Samantha, will be an 11th grader at MAT.  I am originally from Illinois and I received a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville.  In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family, playing golf, going to the beach, and watching sports.  I am so very excited to get to know each and every one of my students and guide them to success during their first year at MAT.

I am excited to teach Sports Science as an elective course! This course will discuss the following topics: sportsmanship, proper nutrition, weight training, forms of sports, and how science relates to every sport a child may play. Along with this, I plan on having some guest speakers such as the Flying Tigers, Lakeland Tropics, Lakeland Magic, etc come in and discuss what it takes to succeed in and out of the classroom!!! If you have any questions, please email me.
